Let’s talk about the difference between CBD, THC, and Delta-9.
I get asked about this often, and it’s a fair question. If you’re going to put something in your body, you should understand what it is.
So here’s the primary difference.
THC, specifically Delta-9-THC, is intoxicating. CBD is not.
That’s the foundation.
Delta-9 is simply the main form of THC found naturally in the plant. When people say THC, they are usually referring to Delta-9. It binds directly to receptors in the brain, which is why it produces euphoric or psychoactive effects.
CBD works differently. It does not bind to those same receptors the way Delta-9 does. It interacts more indirectly with the body and does not produce intoxication.
That structural difference is what changes the experience.
Now let’s go a little deeper.
The Endocannabinoid System
Your body has something called the endocannabinoid system. It plays a role in maintaining balance.
Mood.
Sleep.
Appetite.
Stress response.
Inflammation response.
There are two primary receptor types researchers talk about. CB1 receptors are found mostly in the brain and central nervous system. CB2 receptors are found more in immune tissues and throughout the body.
Delta-9 binds strongly to CB1 receptors. That’s why it affects perception and creates euphoria.
CBD interacts more gently. It influences receptor activity without binding the same way, and research shows it also interacts with serotonin receptors and other pathways. That’s part of why CBD has been known to support calmness and overall balance without intoxication.
Different structure. Different receptor interaction. Different effect profile.
Neither one is automatically right or wrong. It depends on the goal and the person.
Delivery Method Changes Everything
How something is taken matters.
Flower acts quickly because it enters the bloodstream through the lungs. The onset is faster, and the duration is typically shorter.
Edibles like vegan gummies, chocolates, and caramels are processed through digestion. With Delta-9, the liver converts it into a compound that can feel stronger and last longer than inhalation. That’s why dosing education is important with edibles.
Tinctures taken under the tongue allow more controlled dosing and may take effect faster than traditional edibles.
Topicals stay local. They interact with receptors in the skin and surrounding tissue and are not associated with systemic psychoactive effects.
Teas offer a slower, more gradual experience depending on how they are formulated.
Understanding the compound is step one. Understanding how it’s delivered is step two.

When someone walks into the Haus, we don’t start with a product. We start with a conversation.
What are you looking to support?
Do you get drug tested?
What have you tried before?
What’s your comfort level?
We listen first. Then we educate. Then you decide.
And always consult with your doctor before introducing anything new, especially if you have medical conditions or take prescription medications. Your healthcare provider should always be part of your decision making process.
