This past week made one thing clear: the fight to protect natural wellness in Texas is far from over. But guess what? We’re not backing down—and thanks to your voices, we’re finally being heard.
Governor Abbott did not sign the bill to expand Texas’ medical program—and while that may sound disappointing on the surface, it’s actually a major win. Why? Because it means your emails, your calls, and your public outcry worked.
People across Texas are standing up. Veterans are speaking out. Business owners are showing up. Petitions are being signed. And the message is loud: Texans do not want to criminalize plant-based wellness.
What Just Happened
SB 3, a bill that would effectively ban over 99% of hemp-derived wellness products—including the ones we carry right here at Happy Hippy Haus—was pushed through both chambers and now sits on the Governor’s desk. But instead of rushing to sign it, the response from the Governor’s office has been... silence.
That’s not an accident.
It’s the result of growing pressure—from small business owners, farmers, veterans, and everyday people who rely on natural alternatives.
The truth is, this bill doesn’t protect children. It doesn’t support public health. It doesn’t reflect real data or lived experiences.
It’s political theater—and we saw it in full display when Lt. Gov. Dan Patrick tossed hemp snacks at reporters like party favors, calling them “poison.” But these products—ours included—are third-party tested, labeled, and regulated. They are used responsibly every day by thousands of adults who aren’t looking to get high… they’re just trying to sleep, ease pain, or feel a little more human.
And not one person has died from these legal, regulated products!
Why This Still Matters
Here’s what SB 3 would do if signed:
-
Eliminate over 8,000 small Texas businesses and 53,000 jobs
-
Criminalize responsible adults for federally legal products
-
Force people back to costly prescriptions—or worse, the black market
-
Strip away our freedom to choose what works best for our health
This is not just about a single bill. It’s about the kind of Texas we want to live in. One where people have the freedom to make informed choices. One where small businesses aren’t bullied out of existence. One where natural wellness isn’t treated like a threat.
What You Can Do Now
We still have a shot to stop this. But we have to act right now.
Submit a Veto Request to Governor Abbott.
It’s quick. It’s easy. And it could help save the entire Texas hemp industry.
