A Temporary Win in a Bigger Battle

A Temporary Win in a Bigger Battle

Where We Stand: SB3, Abbott’s Veto, and What’s Next

Let’s talk about what just happened in Texas—and what it means for all of us.

Governor Greg Abbott made his move: he vetoed SB3, the bill that would have essentially wiped out the Texas hemp market as we know it. But he didn’t just veto it and walk away—he called for a special session scheduled for July 21st, specifically to discuss regulating these products.

And while the headlines are flying, here’s where I stand—and where I hope you’ll stand with me.

This Is a Win... But It’s Not the End

Abbott’s veto tells me one thing loud and clear: the pressure worked. The calls, the messages, the community standing up—we were heard. He even acknowledged that banning these products outright would hurt businesses and cause chaos across the state.

But don’t be fooled into thinking the fight is over.

Lt. Gov. Dan Patrick came out swinging, claiming this veto “abandons” families and accusing Abbott of opening the door to recreational legalization. (Yes, really.) He’s still pushing the same tired fear-based narrative that got SB3 on the floor in the first place.

The same narrative that ignores science. Ignores facts. Ignores people.

What’s Really Going On?

Let’s be real—this isn’t about protecting kids or families. This is about power, politics, and money.

Dan Patrick has a track record of siding with big lobbyists—especially the ones who benefit from shutting down competition. Alcohol industry dollars. Pharma interests. Sound familiar?

He's painting this picture of gummies poisoning kids, yet the issue isn’t the product—it’s the lack of education and regulation, which is exactly what responsible businesses have been asking for from the start.

We’re not asking for a free-for-all. We’re asking for clear rules, honest labeling, testing, and oversight. We’re asking to stay in business without being villainized by politicians with agendas.

Hope Isn’t Canceled

I’m choosing to stay optimistic.

This special session is a chance. A chance to show up louder than ever and demand something better—fair regulation, not blanket bans. Abbott keeping this door open is proof that not everyone is buying into the fear tactics.

Let’s keep showing up. Keep calling. Keep sharing the truth.

Because Dan Patrick’s intentions will come to light. And when they do, I hope every person who stood behind this ban will be forced to face the real damage they nearly caused.

So, What Can You Do?

  • Speak up – keep messaging your reps and make your voice count before July 21st.

  • Educate your people – send them this blog, share what’s really happening, and push past the headlines.

  • Stay hopeful – because we’re not going anywhere.

We’ve been here before. And if we have to, we’ll keep fighting again and again—because this community is worth it.

Together we stand. Together we fight.
